Diaspora tourism and homeland development: exploring the impacts of African American tourists on the livelihoods of local traders in Southern Ghana

While a bourgeoning literature exists on how African Americans are using tourism to connect with Africa, only handful of studies have examined the nature American tourists’ spending continent. This study identifies popular Ghanaian handicrafts that produced for tourists; examines patterns these and analyses handicraft traders use incomes derived from their craft sales. We found while constitute bulk purchasers in Ghana, numbers dwindled lately, so expenditures crafts other souvenirs.
